- On last week’s show, we sent Tom out of the studio to conduct a ride-sharing experiment, utilizing the services of Uber and Lyft, and then reporting back to us (and giving us a chance to talk to the drivers). Seemed like a reasonable way to utilize what up to this point had always been taxi services. But there’s another side to ride sharing, and it may not be pretty. Last week we told you about legislation which is making its way through our state houses, which would require ride sharing services to have proper insurance. Today, Dave Sutton of “Who’s Driving You?“, a public safety initiative sponsored by the Taxicab, Limousine and Paratransit Association, explains some of the possible issues with ride sharing. Of course, the taxicab drivers and owners have a huge stake in all of this, but Dave makes some important points. We are here giving you both sides of the issues. You decide if you want to use the service, in Sacramento or while on the road.
- A special surprise guest takes us behind the scenes and answers some questions about air travel we know you will find interesting. Tom and Mark are giving away seats on their Magic Bus trip to San Francisco on August 2nd, Be sure to listen carefully to the Travel News to increase your chances of winning.
