Travel Guys Radio Show, Page 147

On the Sunday, June 14th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… Ever dream of sailing away on a month long cruise halfway around the world?  This week, The Travel Guys tell you about one such adventure, offered by our show's major sponsor, Sports Leisure Vacations.  A Holland America ship is making her final voyage, from Seattle to Honolulu and then on to Asia, final destination Singapore.  Michael Downer of SLV shares some observations on the trip, and tells us who might consider being on the seas for a month! Road reporter Steve LaRosa checks in to tell us about a fundraiser for a new local attraction opening up in Folsom, and Gwen Duncan helps us understand the difference between Charter airlines and regularly scheduled service from the likes of United, American, Delta, etc. Finally, the show wraps up with this touching story from Southwest Airlines, proving once again they are the leader in "creative thinking."
On the Sunday, June 7th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… This week's edition of The Travel Guys features two fun and close to home destinations. Each summer, there is a   Shakespeare Theater Festival on the shores of Lake Tahoe.  Two shows are offered this year, beginning in July.  Romeo and Juliet is the Shakespeare half, while The Fantasticks fills the contemporary theater part of the season.  Meanwhile, at Jack London State Park, just outside the Napa Valley, another outdoor summer entertainment opportunity presents itself.  Catch a concert in the park!  We'll update you on both with special guests in the back half of the show. Ramona Goodge, one of our road reporters, joins live from Alaska, where she is on a Holland America cruise.  However, she's not on the show to talk about Alaska but rather to tell us about Vancouver Island.  That's the huge body of land just off the coast of British Columbia.  It's home to Victoria, but Ramona's tour of the island in August isn't about the island's largest city, it's about Nanaimo, Duncan and Tofino, the last of which is on the Pacific Coast.  Listen as Ramona tells you about a place we'll bet most of you have never visited, or even thought about visiting even though the west coast of Vancouver Island is truly one of the world's most beautiful places. Mark has the travel news, with a note about sharing rides in an Uber car.  Did you know such a thing was possible?
On the Sunday, May 31st, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… Sunday's edition of The Travel Guys features a destination with some of the most spectacular scenery in the country, Glacier National Park. Reporter Scott Angeletti talks about his upcoming tour to the park, and gives you tips to make your visit a success. From riding the famous "jammer" cars to Logan Pass, to the magnificent vistas offered on the many lakes, this is one of America's best kept secrets. Mark has a list with some pretty nifty packing tips, and Richard Lewis, Sacramento's theater impresario, stops by to talk about the upcoming summer Music Circus line up and the new Broadway series which starts in the fall. In our Saved The Best For Last segment, we share a unique happening in the Washington, DC, subway.  If a famed violinist played in the subway for spare change, what would be the result? You won't want to miss this. Stop and Hear the Music
On the Sunday, May 24th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… The Memorial Day Weekend edition of The Travel Guys offers variety. First, Mark has one of his "lists," this time featuring things travelers/tourists do that irritate the heck out of people who live in the cities they visit.  What drives locals crazy in San Francisco, New York City and even Sacramento?  Mark has all the answers, along with a story about some Chinese tourists who got a tongue lashing from their tour guide in their own country! What was their crime? Gwen Duncan has some ideas on getaways that are close to home, and we rerun one of our best interviews of the year, with Ed Perkins.  Ed tells you how to figure out what your time is worth on vacation.  We've had so many people listen to the podcast of the show on line, we decided to offer an encore of the interview. Mark has the travel news, along with a live update from New York City.  Join in the fun, Sunday at 3pm.
