Travel Guys Radio Show, Page 145

On the Sunday, July 26th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… Unfortunately,  our guest Steve LaRosa had a family emergency and will not be joining us on the show today. We will, however, be giving away a $250 dinner to Ruth's Chris Steak House to one lucky listener! Question - your favorite place to eat while traveling. Mark has some important information to share about something that happened to a recently deceased member of his travel club.  While it isn't specifically about travel, it's something he feels everyone should be aware of. Tom has an exclusive interview with Nick Watt, host of Travel Channel’s Watt’s World.  Watt’s quick wit and humorous take on the fascinating places he visits gives viewers an all-access passport to the most surprising and unexpected truths about the world we thought we knew. “Watt’s World” follows Emmy award-winning ABC News journalist and producer Nick Watt as he explores the world, asking only questions he would ask.  Like, is cuddling the newest profession in Portland?  Are Lemurians or Buddhists more fun on Mount Shasta?
On the Sunday, July 19th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… A little about Steve LaRosa Reporter Steve LaRosa went on a Rock Pilgrimage to southern California recently, checking out many of the iconic spots you read about in travel stories or see on TV.  In the first of two parts, Steve tells us about some of the food related stops, including Pink's Hot Dogs in Hollywood, The Grove (technically shopping and food), Tommy Burgers and Astroburgers, two all-time classics.  The Sunset Grill (made famous by singer Don Henley), Randy's Donuts and many more are on the list.  Mark will chime in with a few culinary tips of his own for the Hollywood/Sunset area. In the travel news, we'll tell you how to get a job with Southwest Airlines and why you should start saving the gas receipts when you rent a car.
On the Sunday, July 12th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… This week on The Travel Guys, our in studio guest host is Rob Stewart. You know him better as Rob on the Road, seen Monday evenings on KVIE, Channel 6, our PBS station.  Rob joins us to talk about a wide variety of subjects, including destinations featured on upcoming shows, his favorites stories, the most unusual and the conversation will also include how Rob got his start in the television industry and some interesting facts about his career. All about Rob Stewart-Television Host Road Reporter Clayton Whitehead is in Kentucky, putting together a unique behind-the-scenes-of-the-race-horse-industry tour.  He joins us live to tell you why you should consider a trip to Kentucky, either with him this fall, or on your own someday.  Clayton is in Lexington, where many of the Derby winners have been born and bred. In the travel news, The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) says consumers are protected just fine by the way hotels currently divulge their fees.  We tend to disagree.  Should be a lively discussion, Sunday at 3pm on KFBK.
On the Saturday, July 4th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… The holiday edition of The Travel Guys will certainly make you a smarter traveler. We have two stories from travelers, one with an amazingly happy ending, one not so much. The point of both is to give you the opportunity to learn from the experiences of others, to find out what worked and what didn't in challenging travel situations. Chris Galloway has a live report from Boston, where he is escorting a group who witnessed fireworks with music from the Boston Pops on the 4th.  Perhaps you'd like to head there for America's birthday sometime.  Chris will have some tips on how to handle big crowds for signature events. In the travel news, the major airlines are under investigation by the government, but no one seems to quite know why.  Mark and Tom give you their take on what might be happening.
