On the Sunday, February 8th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… This week on The Travel Guys, we have a decidedly local slant. We start with a visit to the KP International Market in Rancho Cordova. Jack Gallagher joins us to talk about his new show, Five Songs, playing at the B Street Theater through March 1st.  It's a most unique production, where the audience picks songs and Jack tells the stories that go with them.  A lot of laughs, perhaps a few tears, you always get your money's worth when Jack is on the stage. In the Travel News, Mark has an update on the measles outbreak at Disneyland, we tell you about a new app for your phone which allows you to "rent a bathroom," and there's a new car rental company on the horizon with a pretty neat reservation system.  Details Sunday at 3pm on The Travel Guys.

On the Sunday, January 25th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… In the travel news, after a five year absence, our airport is finally getting a hotel; and Uber and other ride share companies are back in trouble with state regulators. We'll explain what the new twist is. At the New York Times Travel Show, we annually bring you back interviews from lots of interesting people, and this year is no exception. First, we explore the growing segment of medical tourism in Mexico (click on the flag on the upper right corner to translate to English), that is, people who are going to our southern neighbor for optional and some not so optional medical and dental treatments. Our first guest is Carlos Arceo, President of the Mexican Council for the Medical Tourism Industry. Next from New York is Richard Arnold, Director of Fun at Nova Tours. Richard tells us all about some of the highlights of a visit to the Canadian provinces of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador. He talks a little about the advantages of traveling as part of a group in remote places with few hotels and motels. The second half of the show starts with Adam Rapp telling us all about his "Pick-Pocket Proof" Pants. Mark saw them in person at the NY Times Travel Show Friday and says they looked comfortable and even in tune with fashion. Clothing Arts, Rethinking the Art of Clothing Design, is the company. Tahiti and the over 100 sister islands of the South Pacific are closer than you think. Kristin Carlson of Tahiti Tourism talks to us about this magical destination. Finally, Patti Culp of the Alabama Travel Council sat down with Mark to tell the story of a visit to her home state, from Civil Rights history to the beginnings of the space program in Huntsville and the spectacular white sand beaches of the Alabama Gulf Coast. Christopher Elliott is the USA Today Travel Columnist and is also a weekly contributor for the Sunday travel section of the Sacramento Bee. He speaks with Mark and Tom on a variety of subjects, mostly evolving around the value of frequent flyer/guest programs.
