Travel Guys Radio Show, Page 171

On the Sunday, June 17th, 2012 edition of The Travel Guys… Sunday, on The Travel and Entertainment Guys, our favorite consumer reporter seems to have lost his mind, and we are going to ask him about it. Ed Perkins, who writes for SmarterTravel.com, was suggested all airlines start charging for carry-on bags. Is he crazy? Why would a consumer oriented guy suggest such an outlandish idea? Listen in to find out. You know how Mark loves his lists, and he's got another. This one, Things Not to Pack in Your Checked Luggage, might prove to be full of helpful reminders before you head out on that summer vacation. Plus, Richard Lewis, the Executive Producer of The Music Circus is on hand to update us on changes under the Big Top downtown this summer, and comment on the recent Tony awards and all things theater. Daredevil Nik Wallenda crosses Niagara Falls on a Tightrope Last week we brought this daring story to your attention, and this week we bring you the conclusion. Check out the time lapse video below or click here to read more about the stunt.
Posted Sunday, June 10th, 2012 Niagara Falls, Places to Take Your Kids Before They Grow Up and the Gilroy Garlic Festival are all among the lighter topics for this week's edition of The Travel Guys. One of the Great Wallenda Family of performers is about to walk over Niagara Falls. It's pretty exciting and we'll tell you all about it. Lisa from Family Vacation Critic is on hand to tell us about some great destinations to take your kids to, and speaking of family destinations, how about a visit this summer to the famous Gilroy Garlic Festival? We've got the scoop. All that, and the latest unusual and important travel news, Sunday at 2pm with Tom and Mark. A Day in the Life of a Pilot   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqMmumD5bZk
On the Thursday, May 31st, 2012 edition of The Travel Guys… What a great Sunday afternoon with The Travel and Entertainment Guys. When we last talked with our friend Ed Perkins, he was about to embark on an "around-the-world-trip-of-a-lifetime." Ed has returned to his home in Ashland, Oregon, and is with us to share his adventures in Istanbul, Dubai and Geneva. He had a couple of logistical problems (and knowing about them will make you a smarter traveler). Did we mention that Ed is 82? And that he made this journey alone? Tune in and hear all about his adventures. There is a new California attraction opening up...in Nevada. Elko, Nevada is the new home of the California Trail Interpretive Center, which is opening this weekend. Tom Lester from Elko stops in to tell us all about it. Last Week, our favorite airline pilot, Henry Biernacki, co-hosted with Mark. But he left some business unfinished, so we'll connect with him to get you "the rest of the story." And finally, Linda Nalbandian is in studio to tell us about her one-woman show coming up at the Geery Theater in June. All in one hour (54 minutes to be exact), this Sunday with Mark and Tom on The Travel Guys.
On the Sunday, May 27th, 2012 edition of The Travel Guys… Today, we're joined on The Travel Guys by Henry Biernacki, frequent guest of the show and pilot for Virgin America Airlines. Henry will be filling in for Tom (who's away at his daughters wedding) to talk about his recently world travels and the possibility of Virgin America coming to Sacramento. It'd be an exciting addition to our current range of airlines and would surely help drive competition and offer better pricing to more destinations. Also on the lineup for today is a discussion about Mark's recent visit to the Virgin headquarters in March. It was a great visit, and we're excited to share some of what we learned with you. Also joining us on the show today is road reporter Clayton Whitehead. Clayton has just returned from several trips, including one to the Kentucky Derby at the beginning of May. He always has some great stories to share and tips from the road. Should prove to be an informative visit. All this, plus the travel news including ways to get through security faster and the world's dirtiest city names on today's episode of The Travel Guys!
