Travel Guys Radio Show Page 178

On the Sunday, November 27th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Yes, that's right folks, it's time for yet another fantastic blend of travel, news and entertainment here on KFBK with the Travel Guys. Today, we'll be adding a little dash of holiday fun as Mark tells us about his recent trip to Indiana, Pennsylvania - hometown of Jimmy Stewart. Aside from the amazing hospitality and great feel, the town puts on quite a Christmas show. We've been exploring holiday destinations for over 30 years now, and this one is truly a treat! Our special guest this week is Christopher Elliott, consumer advocate for all you travelers out there. Christopher joins us today to talk about hotel ratings and whether or not you should take them at face value. In truth, ratings often aren't what they seem, so be sure to tune in before booking that hotel this season! Finally, we'll be joined in studio yet again this year by the Sacramento Capitolaires - the barber shop chorus sensation. The Capitolaires put on a great holiday show that we highly recommend you check out this year. They'll be entertaining us with a short sample on-air. We can't wait!
On the Sunday, November 20th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Long time friend of the show Ben Schlappig joins us today to talk about getting the 25,000 points for your first free frequent flyer ticket.  One of the most frequent comments we hear from our listeners about frequent flyer programs and gaming the system is how hard it is to get started with that first ticket.  We can't wait to share Ben's insights with you! Long time friend of the show Ben Schlappig Next, we'll be joined by Will Kayne, captain and historian of the Queen Mary.  Will quite possibly knows more about the retired luxury cruise liner than anyone on the planet, and we can't wait to pick his brain.  For those of you that don't know, the Queen Mary currently serves as a hotel and restaurant in Long Beach.  Staying in the hotel is a truly remarkable experience, so we recommend you check it out!
On the Saturday, November 12th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… First up on this week's episode of The Travel Guys is a guest appearance from Grannies on Safari! Regina and Pat, two best friends with a shared passion for travel, culture and connecting with people join us to discuss a few of their latest adventures. These "grannies" are absolutely hilarious and have quite a few stories to share, we certainly hope you'll join us for the interview. Next up is Rick Ingersoll, frugal travel expert and blogger over at www.frugaltravelguy.com. Long time listeners already know that Mark is a big proponent of airline point programs and gaming the system for deals and upgrades. It's true that there is a whole world of free flights, first class upgrades and extra service waiting for those willing to take the lumps and bumps that come along with playing the game. Some things we don't often stop to consider, however, are the consequences to opening several credit cards, spending money for points and taking cross country flights for the purpose of gaining points (These "mileage runs," as they're called, often include multiple stops, long flights and nights in airports). Rick joins us today to discuss not only how you can find the best deals and game the system, but also whether or not you even should. This is an excellent interview for anyone out there hoping to be a smarter traveler but not sure how to get started. Finally, we'll check in with Mark as he ends yet another sprint of cross country (and even cross ocean) trips. He's sure to have more than a few stories to share! My BlackBerry's Not Working!
On the Sunday, November 6th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Thanks for joining us for another exciting week of the Travel Guys! This week we're joined by special guest Becky from the Sacramento Airport to give us another update from Sacramento's newest terminal. The terminal opened recently, so Becky is sure to have several stories, tips and odds and ends to share. Next, Lissa from Family Vacation Critic tunes in to talk about traveling during the holiday season with kids. Traveling with kids is always an event, but there are some great tips you can use to make it go as smoothly as possible. It's sure to be a great interview and we can't wait to share it with you! Finally, Jon Holloway of packinglight.netjoins us with even more great tips and gift ideas for the busy traveler in your life. Christmas is just around the corner, so be sure to listen in. All this plus the travel news and Mark's suggestions on getting through airports more quickly! Thanks for listening!
