On the Sunday, May 24th, 2020 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, restaurants and tourism attractions are opening all over the country, and some of us hold our collective breaths. Las Vegas casinos are rolling the dice, and we get an update on when the lights might be back on Broadway. The TSA has made some changes to how you'll pass through security at the airport. No more handing your boarding pass to the TSA staff, among other changes. But missing from the new security list is temperature monitoring, which many people expected to be part of the new procedures. (We will have Sid Thrift and Dale Hanna, our local TSA guys, on with us next Sunday to discuss the changes.) Theater companies all over the country are out of business for the summer. Some are getting very creative on giving you virtual performances. We highlight two today: The Transcendence Theater Company in Sonoma is offering concerts from ten years of Broadway shows under the stars (donations); and Broadway itself is offering you the chance to see the premiere of a new show, "Allegiance,"starring George Takei, premieres Friday night and you can watch it ($15 charge). You must rethink your airport experience. Allow a little more time. And have a plan B. Employees at the world renowned Louvre Museum in France went on strike to protest overcrowding and a lack of staff. On the Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, Delta Air Lines has announced new service from Sacramento to Detroit. It begins in June. The westbound flight leaves Detroit at 7:55pm. The return flight is a red eye, arriving back in Detroit at 6am. Marriott Hotels confirmed a major data breach impacting millions of Starwood customers. The incident began four years ago. Marriott has just begun notifying impacted consumers. We’ll have an update next Sunday. It’s the time of the year for Mileage and Hotel Runs. What’s that you ask? It’s when frequent travelers create trips to make sure their “status” with an airline or hotel chain is preserved for the next year. Mark explains the hows and whys of the scramble to preserve status. Our Sacramento TSA representatives are in studio to talk about holiday security at the airport and take calls from our listeners.
This Sunday, December 24th, on the Christmas Eve edition of The Travel Guys: In The Travel News, Hyatt changes its cancellation policy and the Department of Transportation has decided not to bring a halt to resort fees, and it's not good news for consumers. In our Smarter Traveler segment, Mark has a two-fer for you, addressing lining your suitcase during the winter season, and some discussion on putting your seat back on the plane. Just before Thanksgiving, we had two TSA officials in our studio for an extended interview, talking about how to get through security in a fast and easy way. It was such a good interview and very informative, so we are replaying it this Sunday.
