On the Sunday, December 13th, 2020 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, the new defense bill passed by the Senate and the House of Representatives this week contains a signature item from Sacramento Congresswoman Doris Matsui, the Cruise Passenger Protection Act, which was placed inside the bill. The defense spending bill could still be vetoed by President Trump. The Cruise Passenger Protection Act was originally introduced by Congresswoman Matsui in April of 2017. It would mandate a doctor on every cruise ship, and video cameras in public areas. Our Smarter Traveler segment featured two items. There is a new web site matching people who want one-way car rentals. Those can be expensive, but this is a way of reducing the cost. So far, it's only in Canada, but it's coming to the US soon. What do you do when you sit down on the airplane on your holiday trip and your seat mate isn't wearing a mask or isn't wearing it properly? What's the etiquette/protocol in that situation? The Trans-Siberian Orchestra has taken their annual holiday show online this year. Tom has an update on how you can get virtual tickets to this year's show. Is it ethical to sell travel during the pandemic? We asked Chris Elliott and he answered us. Then we asked Gwen Duncan, The Travel Guys Travel Advisor, about that issue and others weighing on her and her staff.

On the Sunday, January 13th, 2019 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, a man is caught trying to smuggle kittens in his pants at the Singapore airport. Four of them in fact. Air Traffic controllers are suing the federal government over the shutdown that has them working without pay checks. Chris Elliott joins Tom and Mark to share an update on the "ding and dent" scam which appeared to be happening at certain car rental franchises. But Chris reports the complaints have slowed to a trickle after a change in the way the company calculates damage. He talks about this new transparency at Enterprise Car Rental. Mark is joining the broadcast live from the Big Island of Hawaii. He continues the second of a two part series on the islands and what some of the hot spots might be for visitors in the coming months. Speculation is that a fare war with the coming of Southwest will bring a number of brand new visitors to the islands. The Broadway hit Come From Away has begun its limited run in San Francisco. Kevin Carolan, one of the show's leads, joins us to talk about this remarkable piece of theater. Tickets are still available here.

On the Sunday, July 22nd, 2018 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, TSA has a new rule about what you can put in your carry on. We tell you how to avoid extra screening. Hint: It involves powdered substances. In our Smarter Traveler segment, Clayton Whitehead, sitting in for Tom, asks if you know how to get out of your historic hotel if there's a fire; and Mark tells you what to do if you show up at the car rental counter and are told there are no cars available.
