On the Sunday, March 12th, 2023 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, Amtrak is expanding and looking to expand service, plus Frontier Airlines is in the news regarding gate-checked bags. Frontier charges a hefty fee to check bags at the gate and a recent customer dispute went viral. The airline says the customer was in the wrong, but there are a variety of interesting sidebars to this story, such as Frontier paying a commission to contracted gate agents who nail you for an oversize bag. Even though the airline may be in the right this time, the online reaction to to the retelling of similar situations has been brutal for Frontier. Mark is in Arizona for baseball's Spring Training. He offers some tips for folks heading down to Arizona in the Smarter Traveler part of the show - where to sit, how to cut your costs a bit, and even a tip on one of the best steakhouses in the area. St. Patrick's Day is next week, and what better way to celebrate than to bring on a guest who is an Ireland expert. Jack Kavanagh, author and leader of National Geographic Expeditions is our guest. On the Sunday, July 17th, 2022 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, there is a new "Tesla Tunnel" on the Las Vegas Strip, creating an exciting new way to get around in Sin City. Delta Airlines, faced with a canceled overseas flight, decides to fly a plane home from Europe full of lost luggage. Ride share companies have a number of unknown rules regarding charges to riders. Some are pretty secret. A traveler found out about one of them in a surprising fashion. "Travel Bucket Lists" are a pretty common thing, particularly among mature travelers. We talk with Steve Ryan, owner of Rudy's Hideaway in Rancho Cordova, to talk about a dream trip of his, to the Grand Prix in Monaco. It's a great story, one of a dream coming true. The California State Fair is back for the first time in three years. We have a recap of what you can expect at the fair, from a Food Festival to Horse Racing.

On the Sunday, December 5th, 2021 edition of The Travel Guys… Mark checks in from Gettysburg and Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he has 30 travelers in tow on a Christmas Mystery Tour. In the Travel News, United Airlines set an aviation record this week, using 100% sustainable aviation fuel to fly a scheduled flight. The fuel emits 75% less carbon dioxide. Adele is setting up residence in Las Vegas, weekends through April, and Sacramento may be getting a new airline, Airbahn. For the second week in a row, our Smarter Traveler segment focuses on contracts between travelers and travel companies. If you don't take the time to read them, don't cry later. Joe Brancatelli from JoeSentMe.com, one of Mark's favorite paid travel sites, has a take on the settlement between Pennsylvania and Marriott Hotel on the resort fee issue.
