On the Sunday, October 4th, 2020 edition of The Travel Guys… In a reflection of how many people are NOT flying right now, United Airlines says they will fly 49% of its 2019 schedule in November of this year.  That's significant, because it includes the Thanksgiving holiday period. Exciting news to future flying.  Airbus is working on a new type of plane, one which could change flying forever.  It would use eco-friendly hydrogen-based fuels and would come in several shapes and sizes.  See the story here. Many travelers are staying at or close to home these days, waiting for Covid to clear. Delta Airlines decides to reduce conflict over reclining seats with a simple solution...reduce the amount of recline for their seats. And American quietly introduces a new plane. You know, the one with 15 more seats stuffed into the same sized cabin. We have the stories, links are below. Last week, United Airlines announced they are dropping their award chart, basically floating the number of miles needed to get a free seats on their flights based on supply and demand. While this seems like it makes great business sense for the airline (Delta had previously done the same thing, expect American to follow quickly), it's terrible news for frequent flyers who like to snag those seats at reasonable mileage prices. Mark is a bit outraged, and can't believe the timing of the announcement, coming on the heels of the United and American "on board" incidents of recent weeks and Congress' promise to crack down on the airlines if they don't get their acts together.
