On the Saturday, February 19th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… It's no secret, we love to travel. But it would be a real shame to spend all our time uncovering the best that far-off destinations have to offer while overlooking some of the amazing attractions we have right here in California. Two such attractions that don't get near the attention they deserve are the Ramona Pageant and the "Taste of Pismo" at Pismo Beach. Both are a real treat, and we can't wait to share them with you! Speaking of local attractions, we have 3 sets of tickets to give away to local shows and events in the area. Tickets will be given out on-air, so be sure to listen in for your chance to win! The Ramona Pageant This is a play like none you've seen before. The play takes place outdoors in the historic Ramona Bowl, allowing you to become fully immersed in the story as events unfold in all directions. Horses charge in from the left, gun fights to the right, dancing in front; it's really quite remarkable. Check out the 2011 Ramona Bowl official trailer over on their facebook page or learn more about the pageant at ramonabowl.com. Interested in the show but not the hassle? You can also join Sports Leisure Vacations on their annual trip to the Ramona Bowl at the end of April. A Taste of Pismo Beach [flickr-gallery mode="search" tag_mode="all" tags="Pismo Beach" sort="interestingness-desc"] It's almost time for the 6th Annual "Taste of Pismo" celebration at Pismo Beach. If you're not already familiar with Pismo Beach, just think warm, sandy beaches, excellent food and a whole lotta fun. The celebration takes place on April 25 and brings all these things together with live entertainment, food tasting and wine samplings (lots of wine samplings!) It's a fun time each and every year, and we HIGHLY recommend you check it out! You can learn more about the Taste of Pismo at www.tasteofpismo.com or learn about how you can experience the Taste of Pismo celebration with Sports Leisure Vacations! Carnaval in Sacramento! Arguably one of the biggest dance parties in the world, Carnaval is coming to Sacramento for the first time ever! The event takes place this Saturday, Feb 26th, starting at 8pm and features live entertainment, dance crews, Brazilian food and drinks. Tickets are $20.00 at the door, but save $5.00 by purchasing in advance.
On the Sunday, June 7th, 2015 edition of The Travel Guys… This week's edition of The Travel Guys features two fun and close to home destinations. Each summer, there is a   Shakespeare Theater Festival on the shores of Lake Tahoe.  Two shows are offered this year, beginning in July.  Romeo and Juliet is the Shakespeare half, while The Fantasticks fills the contemporary theater part of the season.  Meanwhile, at Jack London State Park, just outside the Napa Valley, another outdoor summer entertainment opportunity presents itself.  Catch a concert in the park!  We'll update you on both with special guests in the back half of the show. Ramona Goodge, one of our road reporters, joins live from Alaska, where she is on a Holland America cruise.  However, she's not on the show to talk about Alaska but rather to tell us about Vancouver Island.  That's the huge body of land just off the coast of British Columbia.  It's home to Victoria, but Ramona's tour of the island in August isn't about the island's largest city, it's about Nanaimo, Duncan and Tofino, the last of which is on the Pacific Coast.  Listen as Ramona tells you about a place we'll bet most of you have never visited, or even thought about visiting even though the west coast of Vancouver Island is truly one of the world's most beautiful places. Mark has the travel news, with a note about sharing rides in an Uber car.  Did you know such a thing was possible?
On the Thursday, June 19th, 2014 edition of The Travel Guys…   The Magic Bus - take a trip back to the 60's on San Francisco's newest sightseeing phenomena.  It looks like an old school bus, but it's actually a modern moving theater, with technology and wheels taking you back 50 years.  The Travel a Guys will have their own trip on August 2nd. Seattle Food Tours - Savor Seattle is the name of the company which helps you discover the tastes of Seattle.  You knew the Emerald City was famous for coffee, but did you know it's also known for its gourmet chocolate?  Ever wanted to go behind the scenes at famous Pike Place Market?  Let us make your next visit to Seattle something special. Music Circus - Richard Lewis and his father Russell have over half a century of experience helping Sacramento's theatrical creativity shine.  Listen as Richard tells us the story of the "Tune Tent," which eventually became the Music Circus.  Mary Poppins headlines a great new season at the Wells Fargo Pavilion and we'll give you an advance look. This Sunday, June 11th, on The Travel Guys... Our consumer advocate buddy Chris Elliott, who's column appears in the Sacramento Bee Travel Section each Sunday, is making a cross country journey by car with his three children. In a different sort of report from Chris, we ask about the challenges of a family vacation, and ask Chris and the kids for tips to make you a smarter traveler when traveling with your family. Gwen Duncan tells us the Napa Valley is one of the hottest vacation destinations on the planet. Prices for accommodations and wine tasting are particularly on the rise. Gwen tells us how to best avoid high prices and heavy traffic by timing your visit right. Mark has the Travel News, featuring stories about self-driving buses in one Chinese city, and how two NFL players handled their circumstances when the flight taking them to an important practice was cancelled. Can you say "I need a ride on social media?"
