On the Saturday, August 6th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… This Sunday (and next) on The Travel Guys, we are dedicated to cruising. Not the kind you do in a car on a Saturday night, but the kind you do on a big ship (or a small ship) on the water. Carolyn Spencer-Brown, editor of The Cruise Critic, joins us to talk about the ups and downs of a cruise vacation. We'll take your phone calls in the second half of the hour, with a $50 gas card given to one lucky caller. Tell us about your favorite cruise line or ship (or your least favorite) and why. Road Reporter Clayton Whitehead will be joining us in-studio for this segment to share his opinions and help answer questions!
On the Sunday, July 31st, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… This week on the travel guys we'll be introducing you to a new app for finding things to do in Northern California. The app, called NorCalGuide, features activities, events, top restaurants and hotels by destination. The app is free and can be downloaded by visiting http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/northern-california-travel/id437047413?mt=8#. iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch only. Next up, we'll be visited in studio by the World Music & Dance Festival. For more information on the festival, visit them online at www.sacworldfest.com. For information on how to audition, please email Bret Freeman bfree2create@gmail.com. Check out this video highlighting last year’s event! Finally, have you ever had a travel experience that wasn't up to par? Perhaps you wanted to write a letter or an e-mail and let someone know about it. Sunday, we are joined by Christopher Elliott, a syndicated consumer reporter and writer, whose column frequently appears in the Sunday edition of the Sacramento Bee. Christopher will share tips on what to write, who to write to and what to ask for in return if you think you didn't get what you paid for. Truly, his tips apply to any type of complaint situation, not just travel. All that and more on another episode of The Travel Guys!
On the Sunday, July 24th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Remember those new airline consumer protection laws we were all so excited about? Well we may have spoken too soon! Ed Perkins, our favorite Consumer Reporter and frequent guest of the show joins us to discuss the Department of Transportation's recent decision to back off on enforcing a few of the new laws. It's an alarming development to say the least! Ed will also be joining us to discuss the United/Continental merger and the interesting reward opportunities it gives to American Express users. Next up is Gina Swankie, spokesperson for The Big Build - the newest addition to the Sacramento International Airport - to talk about the progress they've made and what to expect over the coming months. The new terminal is scheduled to open in October and will include a state-of-the-art people moving system. Joshua and Robin Berry Children’s Trust The tragic story of Joshua and Robin Berry's death while returning home from vacation has truly touched our hearts. We want to encourage you all to check out the Trust's facebook page, keep updated on the children's progress and consider making a donation. You can visit their page by clicking here.
On the Sunday, July 17th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Sunday, the Travel Guys are joined by two of our favorites guests, Ben Schlappig and Jon Holloway headlining. Ben blogs about travel and also helps people get that difficult frequent flyer mileage ticket. Sunday he'll give you some tips on how to search partner airlines for the ticket you need. It's a little bit advanced, but definitely worth listening to if you've ever had the frustration of trying to get that Super Saver ticket... Jon Holloway of Holloway Travel Outfitters joins us in the studio for one of his family-famous packing demonstrations. Jon (and his mother before him) have been giving these demonstrations to Sacramento-area travelers for two generations. Catch Jon on the air, then watch the demonstration on line. Lots of tips to make you a Smarter Traveler. Mark on Fox 40's Morning Show Mark will appear on Fox 40 on Monday about 7:40am to discuss how to be a Smarter Traveler.
