On the Saturday, July 9th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… This week on the Travel Guys we're bringing back Virgin American pilot Henry Biernacki to answer any and all of your questions for a full hour. Some of you may remember Henry from a few weeks ago, when he gave us a glimpse into what exactly goes on inside the cockpit during a flight. This time, you take control and steer the conversation in any direction you wish. Also joining us will be Yuki Gallatin, a gate agent for a major international airline. Together, Henry and Yuki bring a wealth of information on flying you won't find anywhere else!
Plus, in the travel news we'll introduce you a new attraction that will allow you to dangle 116 stories over Toronto's skyline and even teach you how to beat a DUI with Sacramento's newest cruise attraction. It's another exciting week of The Travel Guys, and we hope you'll come along for the ride!
Mark on TV
This past week, Mark was asked by FOX 40 for his opinion on the cruise accident that recently took place in Mexico. Check it out in the video below.
On the Sunday, July 3rd, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Join The Travel Guys Sunday as the phone lines are once again opened up and Mark asks you what your favorite airline is and why. The votes from last week have been posted here. If you can't call in Sunday, be sure to vote on line. Results will be announced on next Sunday's show.
One lucky caller to the show this week will win a $50 ARCO gas card. We'll take calls after the Travel News. Featured guests include a man who will help us understand why airlines finished last among all industries in customer satisfaction; and Tom takes you on a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, one of northern California's most popular tourist attractions.
916-921-1530 and 800-834-1530 are the numbers to call between 2:15 and 2:45pm Sunday. Be ready, because Mark has a couple of things he'll want to know when he gets you on the line. For example, when you stay in hotels, do you usually tip the housekeeper? Why or why not? Talk to you on the radio...
Whats YOUR Favorite Airline?
Odds’n Ends
Check out this list of top 10 most “Thrilling” airports in the world. How’d you like to land on one of these?!?
We'd like to send a special shout out to Erin Haight, photographer of the fantastic photo shown below. This photo was recently added to the KVIE Art Auction we told you about a few weeks ago!
On the Thursday, June 23rd, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… This Sunday, the Travel Guys feature a visit from American Road Magazine Editor Becky Repp. (Becky was originally scheduled to appear on last week's program.) You'll have an opportunity to win a free $50 gas card by calling in and sharing your favorite airline and telling Tom and Mark why you like to fly that carrier. 916-921-1530, or 800-8343-1530 are the numbers to call.
Your Favorite Domestic Airline
On the Sunday, June 19th, 2011 edition of The Travel Guys… Be a Smarter Traveler Sunday with the Travel Guys. Tom and Mark are joined by four great guests. First up is Ben Schlappig. Ben writes a blog and makes a living "beating the system," or at least squeezing everything out of it he can. Ben speaks about the merger of Continental and United Airlines, and how it will impact the frequent flyers of each carrier as they merge operations.
Next up is Becky Repp of American Road Magazine. This publication is one a true roadie can't live without. The summer edition features drive-in movie theaters, now reduced only a few hundred in the country, they are a unique part of American pop culture. Becky tells us about the biggest drive-in in the country and reminds us that "friends don't let friends drive the interstate."
Joe Belotti is a 37-year veteran of flying the skies, and also runs a school for potential flight attendants on line. Joe's program is a great way to find out if you have what it takes to become a flight attendant. If you know someone who is interested in that type of career, be sure and have them listen in (or catch the pod cast when it's posted Wednesday after the show).
Finally, Tom has an update from the Cosmopolitan Caberet downtown, where a brand new comedy has opened, "Defending the Caveman." What's that all about? Tune in Sunday and find out.
