On the Sunday, October 4th, 2020 edition of The Travel Guys… In a reflection of how many people are NOT flying right now, United Airlines says they will fly 49% of its 2019 schedule in November of this year.  That's significant, because it includes the Thanksgiving holiday period. Exciting news to future flying.  Airbus is working on a new type of plane, one which could change flying forever.  It would use eco-friendly hydrogen-based fuels and would come in several shapes and sizes.  See the story here. On the Sunday, November 24th, 2019 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, Hawaiian Airlines flight attendants have voted to strike for the first time in the company's 90 year history.  The vote was nearly unanimous.  The earliest a strike could legally occur would be sometime in January/February.  Experts think that is unlikely, considering the increased competition in the islands with the addition of Southwest Airlines.  A strike would be particularly harmful to Hawaiian right now, which is likely why the flight attendants are pushing their case now. Curtis Stocking of the Wreath Project joins us to discuss their annual drive to put a wreath on the grave of every single fallen warrior at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.  The job gets bigger each year, as thousands more grave sites are added, and the cost of the wreaths inches up.  You can help.  Here is the link for their go fund me site.  They are also in need of volunteers to place the wreaths. On the Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 edition of The Travel Guys… In the Travel News, Delta Air Lines has announced new service from Sacramento to Detroit. It begins in June. The westbound flight leaves Detroit at 7:55pm. The return flight is a red eye, arriving back in Detroit at 6am. Marriott Hotels confirmed a major data breach impacting millions of Starwood customers. The incident began four years ago. Marriott has just begun notifying impacted consumers. We’ll have an update next Sunday. It’s the time of the year for Mileage and Hotel Runs. What’s that you ask? It’s when frequent travelers create trips to make sure their “status” with an airline or hotel chain is preserved for the next year.
